Hoi An
Talk about my own personal slice of heaven and hell. This place is amazing and dangerous at the same time: amazing in that it has great food, tailors who make anything you could imagine, and a pretty beach and dangerous in that I cannot stop buying things – so much so that I have to get a new suitcase. Whoops. I definitely blew my budget out of the water here. It was just so difficult – for me – to pass some stores and NOT take a look.
I also love this city because I had some great friends from Korea come and visit. I have really enjoyed traveling alone, but I definitely appreciate familiar faces. It was a nice respite from town to town meeting new people to be able to settle into a hotel room (yes- not a hostel!) for a few days (and a few too many). We even took a cooking class! Side note, I don’t think I have stopped eating since I got to Vietnam – the food is amazing. Thankfully, I have slowed down on my Iced Vietnamese Coffee addiction (which is now a coca – cola one).
As much as I have enjoyed my travels and meeting new friends, I think I am ready to stay in one place for a while. Now, I know I will be eating my words when I have been in the US for weeks (ha) without a vacation…
